Part IX – Never Escape

Eesto was put on the table. They had him tied down completely this time.
“So will it work?” Esp said.
“We’re unsure.” The white umbreon said. “This might not work with a plant injection into a mammal.”
“Do I look like I care if he lives or dies. Just do it!” Esp growled.
“But we could still use him for other experiments-“
“Idiot!” Esp growls and smacks him out of the way and injected the concoction herself. Eesto cried out in pain as the green liquid was injected into his leg. Everything was getting fuzzy. Eesto could faintly see some green fur like parts on his legs. He saw it.
“{Leafeon…}” Eesto thought. Esp continued to inject him with it until it was empty.

Eesto was too dizzy to move. Esp examined him. She looked surprised he was alive.
“Wow. It worked!” The umbreon said. “We’ve made an eevee with all evolutions!”
“Yeah… Now kill him.” Esp said suddenly.
“Kill? But why.”
“We’ll store his blood so the next experiment will be stronger.”
The umbreon looked almost sorry.
“I’m waiting…” Esp said, “Kill him and get him out of my sight!”
Eesto looks around, too dizzy to see straight. He couldn’t see the umbreon moving a huge blade over his neck. The umbreon pulled the rope and lift the blade of the guillotine. Eesto suddenly felt something grabs on his hind paws and pull him back. Eesto was about to look back, but he saw a huge blade drop right in front of his face. He couldn’t even scream with surprise. Whoever had saved him, grabbed the scruff of his neck, near his spikes. With it’s huge talons, it easily rip the chains off him.
“The ravens!” The umbreon screamed.
“Get them!!!” Esp commanded.
Eesto’s vision finally cleared up enough so he could see what saved him. They were birds which were as big as Esp flying around. He looked up and saw one of the ravens was carrying him. The flock of mysterious birds spread out and flew into the many different rooms containing prisoners.

“I got one!” The raven said to another raven holding a red eevee with an ice blue tail.
“Me too. Let’s wait for the others.” The other raven said.
The red eevee looked at Eesto.
“Eesto? Hey! Eesto it’s me!”
“Corlo!” Eesto smiled.
“I have been hoping for this day.” Corlo said.
“What is it?”
“These ravens are taking us out of here!”
“Yes!” Eesto said. But suddenly a bolt almost hit Eesto and the raven carrying him. It came from the pichu from below.
“Whoa! No more putzing around! They got the thunder guy. All ravens! Take what you have now and get out!” The raven said.
“But sir… we only have seven.”
“We can’t risk our own men against those lightning bolts. Retreat now!”
Eesto looked around and saw more ravens, some carrying eevees, but most without. They all started to fly. Eesto looked up and saw the strange vortex, which he remembered from his first day. It was the exit. The nightmare was almost over.
“Ok. Let’s split up and find places to scatter the eevees to prevent them from finding them together!” The raven said.
“Right!” The one carrying Corlo said and started to fly to the other side.
“{I guess this is good-bye Eesto… but a real GOOD–bye. I hope we can see each other again.}” Corlo said.
“{Bye Corlo…}” Eesto said and watched his friend disappear into the portal. Eesto looked at the other ravens with the eevees flying out. He realised something.
“Wait! No wait! We can’t leave yet! We forgot Lavender!”
“She’s a friend? Sorry kid. No time!” The raven said and started to fly up, almost getting hit by the lighting and psybeam.
“No! I’m not leaving without Lavender!!!” Eesto screams and struggled. The raven grabbed tighter, not letting Eesto go.
“Get that stupid bird with my experiment!” Esp screamed at the pichu.
The pichu panicked and accidentally shocked himself.
Eesto kept squirming. Finally the raven reached the portal and flew through. Eesto screamed as the light enveloped him.
“NOOO!!!” Eesto screamed at the top of his lungs. “LAVENDER!!!!!”

Esp looks at where the ravens had taken the Eesto. She glared at the pichu and gestured him to come to her. The pichu, who was still groggy from his blunder, timidly obeyed.
“Was that my experiment?” Esp asked, calmly.
“Uh well…” The pichu stuttered, “I took down a whole bunch of ravens, see. I was about to save your experiment when I-”
Esp pinned pichu to the wall, “Yes…. Or… no.”
“A little bit?”
Esp dropped him to the ground.
Esp was shaking she was so angry. She roared and smacked the guillotine, breaking into pieces. All of her minions backed away.

Meanwhile in the overworld, Eesto was surrounded by green grass and trees. The sun was so bright his entire head ached. He kept his eyes closed as he sobbed.
“Lavender…I promised you…” Eesto kept repeating.
“I’m sorry.” The raven said, still a little unsure how to help him. “At least you’re out. You’re free from Esp. You don’t have to fear anymore!”
“I don’t care… I’d rather you saved Lavender than me. You should have seen what they put her through!” Eesto cried.
“… … What does she look like?” the raven asks.
“She’s white… with purple dots all over her body, with a big one around her eye… and the most beautiful blue eyes… more beautiful then that.” Eesto said, pointing at the blue, clear sky.
“Ok. Listen kid, it’s going to be a while till I’m able to get back down there, but if I ever do see that eevee, I’ll help her escape, ok?” The raven said.
“Yeah  right…” Eesto said.
“No really… I give you my word.”
Eesto looked up at him, and he could see the sincerity in his eyes, “You really will?”
“Yes. I’d never lie about such a thing.” The raven said.
“Thank you…” Eesto sobbed, thinking about everything.
“Come take a drink.” The raven said, leading him to a small pond. Eesto crawled to the water and looked at his reflection for the first time since his capture. He cringed with disgust. He recalled a time when was normal. Now when he looked at himself, he saw a disgusting mutant. Eesto couldn’t help but break down. The raven really pitied him. He was a bit uneasy when Eesto nuzzled up against him, but he let him.
“No more suffering…. You’re free.”
